Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 1 packet (2 ¼ tsp) active dry yeast
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 cup homemade tomato sauce
  • 2 cups mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • Your choice of toppings (pepperoni, bell peppers, onions, mushrooms, etc.)

Instructions

  1. Activate the yeast by combining warm water, sugar, and yeast in a bowl. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until foamy.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, mix flour and salt. Make a well in the center and add the yeast mixture and olive oil. Knead the dough until smooth and elastic. Cover and let rise for about 1 hour until doubled in size.
  3. Prepare your homemade tomato sauce by sautéing garlic in olive oil, adding tomatoes, salt, and herbs, and letting it simmer for 20 minutes.
  4. Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C). Roll out the risen dough on a floured surface, transfer to a baking tray, and spread the tomato sauce over it. Sprinkle mozzarella cheese and add your chosen toppings.
  5. Bake the pizza for 12-15 minutes until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbling. Let cool for a couple of minutes before slicing.

Notes

  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
  • Freeze slices individually wrapped in plastic wrap and placed in a freezer bag for longer storage.
