Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup warm water
- 1 packet (2 ¼ tsp) active dry yeast
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 cup homemade tomato sauce
- 2 cups mozzarella cheese, shredded
- Your choice of toppings (pepperoni, bell peppers, onions, mushrooms, etc.)
Instructions
- Activate the yeast by combining warm water, sugar, and yeast in a bowl. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until foamy.
- In a large mixing bowl, mix flour and salt. Make a well in the center and add the yeast mixture and olive oil. Knead the dough until smooth and elastic. Cover and let rise for about 1 hour until doubled in size.
- Prepare your homemade tomato sauce by sautéing garlic in olive oil, adding tomatoes, salt, and herbs, and letting it simmer for 20 minutes.
- Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C). Roll out the risen dough on a floured surface, transfer to a baking tray, and spread the tomato sauce over it. Sprinkle mozzarella cheese and add your chosen toppings.
- Bake the pizza for 12-15 minutes until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbling. Let cool for a couple of minutes before slicing.
Notes
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
