  • Total Time: 25 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 oz beef sirloin or flank steak, thinly sliced
  • 12 oz lo mein noodles or spaghetti
  • 2 cups fresh broccoli florets
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce (low sodium preferred)
  • 2 tablespoons oyster sauce (optional but recommended for authentic flavor)
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ginger, grated
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch mixed with 2 teaspoons water (to thicken sauce)
  • Optional: sliced green onions, sesame seeds for garnish

Instructions

  1. Cook the lo mein noodles according to package instructions until al dente, then drain and toss with a little sesame oil to prevent sticking.
  2. Blanch the broccoli florets in boiling water for about 2 minutes until bright green and crisp-tender, transfer to an ice bath to stop cooking and preserve color.
  3. In a bowl, marinate the sliced beef with 1 tablespoon soy sauce and a touch of cornstarch for at least 10 minutes.
  4. Heat 1 tablespoon vegetable oil in a large wok or skillet over medium-high heat. Add the beef and cook until browned and just cooked through, about 2-3 minutes. Remove and set aside.
  5. In the same wok, add another tablespoon of oil if needed, then stir-fry garlic and ginger until fragrant, about 30 seconds.
  6. Add the broccoli and cooked noodles to the wok. Return the beef to the pan. Pour in soy sauce, oyster sauce, and sesame oil. Toss to coat evenly.
  7. Add the cornstarch-water mixture to thicken the sauce slightly. Cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until heated through. Garnish with green onions and sesame seeds if desired, then serve hot.

Notes

  • Use thinly sliced beef for fast and even cooking.
  • Keep all ingredients prepped beforehand for quick stir-frying.
  • Adjust soy sauce and oyster sauce to taste for desired saltiness.
  • Include fresh garlic and ginger for authentic flavor.
  • Serve immediately garnished with green onions and sesame seeds for extra aroma.
