- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened (226g)
- 1 ½ cups packed brown sugar (300g)
- 2 large eggs, room temperature
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour (312g)
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- ½ teaspoon baking powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
- Optional: ½ cup granulated sugar for rolling
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- Cream softened butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy (3-4 mins). Add eggs one at a time, then vanilla.
- Whisk together flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt in a separate bowl.
- Gradually mix dry ingredients into butter mixture until just combined.
- Scoop dough into 1.5-inch balls, roll in granulated sugar if desired, and place 2 inches apart on baking sheet.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes until edges are lightly golden but centers remain soft. Cool 5 minutes before transferring.
Notes
- Don’t overbake – cookies will set as they cool.
- For thicker cookies, chill dough 30 minutes before baking.
- Store in airtight container for up to 5 days or freeze unbaked dough balls.
