- 1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) active dry yeast
- 1 cup warm milk (about 110°F)
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 egg (for egg wash)
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Allow it to sit for about 5 minutes until foamy.
- Mix in the eggs and softened butter, then gradually add the flour and salt to create the dough.
- Knead the dough on a clean surface for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place until it doubles in size (about 1-2 hours).
- Punch down the risen dough, divide it into equal portions, and shape each into a hot dog log.
- Place shaped dough on a parchment-lined baking tray, cover, and let rise for another 30-45 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C), brush each bun with egg wash, and bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
