Instructions
- Whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a large bowl.
- Cream the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add eggs one at a time, mixing well, then incorporate vanilla extract.
- Alternately add dry ingredients and buttermilk to the wet mixture, ending with dry ingredients.
- Gently fold in sliced peaches.
- Pour batter into a greased 9-inch round cake pan and bake at 350°F (175°C) for 40-45 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Allow the cake to cool completely before frosting.
- To prepare frosting, melt butter over medium heat, stir in brown sugar until smooth and bubbly, then cool slightly.
- Mix in milk or heavy cream and vanilla until reaching desired consistency.
- Spread frosting evenly over cooled cake and garnish with additional peach slices if desired.
