- 400g fresh button mushrooms (champignon mushrooms), cleaned and sliced
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 1 bell pepper, diced
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh parsley, chopped for garnish
- Grated parmesan cheese for serving (optional)
- Pasta or salad for serving
Instructions
- Rinse the fresh button mushrooms in a colander to clean them.
- Slice the rinsed champignon mushrooms into evenly sized pieces.
- Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat and sauté the minced garlic, onions, and bell peppers for 3-4 minutes.
- Add the sliced button mushrooms, season with salt and pepper, and cook until golden brown, about 5-7 minutes.
- Serve the sautéed mushrooms over pasta or alongside a fresh salad, garnished with parsley and optional parmesan cheese.
Notes
- Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
- For a variation, substitute button mushrooms with cremini or portobello mushrooms.
- This recipe can easily be made vegan by omitting parmesan cheese.
