Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 small onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (10.5 oz) condensed cream of mushroom or cream of onion soup
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 package (32 oz) frozen tater tots
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Optional toppings: chopped green onions, pickles, or bacon bits
Instructions
- In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula. Drain excess fat.
- Add diced onions and minced garlic to the beef and cook until fragrant and translucent, about 3-4 minutes. Season with salt, pepper, and Worcestershire sauce.
- Stir in the condensed soup until well combined. Remove from heat and set aside.
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Transfer the beef mixture into a greased 9×13-inch baking dish. Spread evenly, then sprinkle with shredded cheddar and mozzarella cheeses. Top with frozen tater tots, covering the entire surface.
- Bake uncovered for 30-35 minutes or until the tater tots are crispy and golden brown. Let rest for a few minutes before serving. Garnish with chopped green onions if desired.
Notes
- For a healthier version, substitute ground turkey or chicken for beef and use low-fat cheese.
- You can prepare the casserole up to 24 hours in advance; simply refrigerate and bake when ready.
- Adding diced vegetables like bell peppers or zucchini boosts nutrition and flavor.
- Homemade cheese sauce can be used in place of shredded cheese for creamier texture.
