- 1 lb (450g) ground turkey
- 12 oz (340g) cooked pasta (penne, rotini, or fusilli)
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 cup marinara sauce
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh basil or parsley for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add chopped onions and minced garlic, sauté until fragrant and translucent.
- Add ground turkey, season with salt, pepper, oregano, and Italian seasoning. Cook until browned and cooked through, breaking it apart with a spatula.
- Stir in marinara sauce and simmer for 5 minutes to meld flavors.
- In a large bowl, combine cooked pasta with the turkey and sauce mixture until well coated.
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Transfer the mixture to a greased baking dish. Sprinkle evenly with mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes until cheese is bubbly and golden brown. Let cool slightly before serving.
Notes
- Feel free to add vegetables like spinach, bell peppers, or mushrooms for extra nutrition.
- You can substitute ground chicken for ground turkey for a lighter version.
- Cover with foil during the first 15 minutes of baking to prevent cheese from burning.
