- 1 cup (226g) unsalted butter, cold and cubed
- 2 large eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 can (21 oz) cherry pie filling
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Cut in the cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Set aside 1 cup for topping.
- Press remaining mixture into the prepared dish. Bake for 15 minutes until lightly golden.
- Spread cherry pie filling evenly over the baked crust.
- Sprinkle the reserved flour mixture over the filling, pressing lightly to adhere.
- Bake for an additional 25-30 minutes until topping is golden brown. Cool completely before slicing.
Notes
- Optional: Add a splash of almond extract or crushed graham crackers to the crust for extra flavor.
- Make sure to cool the bars fully for neat slices.
