Ingredients
Scale
- 1 ½ lbs ground beef (beef)
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/2 cup finely chopped onion
- 1/2 cup milk
- 2 large eggs
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup ketchup (plus extra for topping)
- 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- Optional: chopped herbs like parsley or thyme
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, chopped onion, milk, eggs, garlic, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Mix thoroughly until all ingredients are well incorporated.
- Transfer the mixture onto a baking dish or loaf pan, shaping it into a loaf form. For a rustic look, shape it freehand on a baking sheet.
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the shaped meatloaf for about 60 minutes. During the last 15 minutes, brush additional ketchup on top for a glaze.
- Once baked, let the meatloaf rest for 10 minutes before slicing to allow juices to redistribute for moist, tender slices.
Notes
- Ensure not to overmix the meatloaf mixture to keep it tender.
- You can add chopped herbs like parsley or thyme for extra flavor.
- Using a meat thermometer can help ensure the meatloaf is cooked to a safe internal temperature of 160°F.
- Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container for up to 3 days or frozen for up to 3 months.
