- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 cups mixed vegetables (peas, carrots, corn)
- 2 tbsp tomato paste or ketchup
- 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 4 cups mashed potatoes (prepared from scratch or store-bought)
- 1/4 cup shredded cheese (optional)
Instructions
- In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef or lamb until browned. Add chopped onion and minced garlic, sautéing until translucent.
- Stir in tomato paste and Worcestershire sauce for added flavor. Mix in the vegetables and cook for a few minutes. Season with salt and pepper.
- Transfer the cooked meat mixture to an oven-safe dish.
- Spread the mashed potatoes evenly over the meat filling. Sprinkle shredded cheese on top if desired, then smooth the surface.

- Allow resting for a few minutes before serving for easier slicing and serving.
Notes
- You can substitute ground turkey or chicken for a leaner option.
- Vegetarian version: use lentils or plant-based meat substitutes and cauliflower mash.
- Extra flavor: add chopped herbs like parsley or thyme on top before serving.
- Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheated thoroughly.
