- 1 pound Italian sausage, sliced
- 1 cup orzo pasta
- 1 cup chicken broth
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 onion, chopped
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh basil or parsley for garnish
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add sausage slices and cook until browned. Remove and set aside.
- In the same pot, sauté onion and garlic until fragrant and translucent.
- Add orzo and cook for 1-2 minutes to toast slightly.
- Pour in chicken broth and bring to a boil. Reduce heat, cover, and simmer for about 10 minutes, or until orzo is tender.
- Stir in heavy cream, cooked sausage, red pepper flakes, salt, and pepper. Cook until sauce thickens slightly.
- Garnish with fresh herbs before serving.

- You can substitute turkey or chicken sausage for a leaner option.
