Ingredients
Scale
- 4 large, crisp apples (Granny Smith or Fuji work well)
- 1 cup high-quality caramel sauce
- 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips or melting chocolate
- 1 tablespoon coconut oil or vegetable shortening
- Optional toppings: chopped nuts, sprinkles, sea salt
- Wooden or silicone skewers or sticks
Instructions
- Wash and thoroughly dry the apples. Cut each apple into thin, even slices about ¼ inch thick. Insert a skewer into each slice’s edge.
- Heat the caramel sauce until warm and smooth, either in the microwave or on the stovetop. Add a pinch of sea salt or vanilla extract if desired.
- Dip each apple slice into the caramel, ensuring it’s fully coated. Place on a parchment-lined tray and refrigerate for 15-20 minutes to set.
- In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the chocolate chips with coconut oil in 30-second intervals, stirring until smooth.
- Dip the caramel-coated apple slices into the melted chocolate, decorating as desired. Return to parchment paper and add optional toppings before chocolate hardens.
- Refrigerate the coated slices for at least 30 minutes until the chocolate is firm before serving.
Notes
- Use high-quality chocolate and caramel for the best flavor.
- For dairy-free options, substitute vegan chocolate and coconut-based caramel.
- Add toppings like chopped nuts, sprinkles, or sea salt for extra flavor and texture.
- Ensure slices are thoroughly dried before dipping in caramel for better adhesion.
