Ingredients
Scale
- 4 cups of torn croissants (preferably day-old for best texture)
- 1 cup of semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 4 large eggs
- 2 cups of whole milk or heavy cream
- 1/2 cup of granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
- Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)
- Fresh berries or whipped cream for serving (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Tear the croissants into bite-sized pieces and evenly distribute them in the prepared dish. Sprinkle chocolate chips over the croissant pieces.
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together eggs, milk or heavy cream, sugar, and vanilla extract until well combined.
- Pour the custard mixture evenly over the croissants and chocolate, ensuring all pieces are soaked. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes, or until golden and custard is set. Optionally, broil for 2-3 minutes for a crispier top.
Notes
- Use day-old croissants for the best texture and flavor.
- Can be assembled a day ahead and kept refrigerated overnight before baking.
- Increase baking time slightly if using larger or thicker croissants.
