- 1 ½ cups (300g) granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 ¼ cups (150g) all-purpose flour
- ¾ cup (75g) unsweetened cocoa powder
- ½ teaspoon baking powder
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- 1 cup (175g) semi-sweet chocolate chips
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter and sugar until creamy. Add eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla extract.
- Whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt in a separate bowl. Gradually add dry ingredients to wet, mixing until just combined. Fold in chocolate chips.
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Scoop tablespoons of dough, roll into balls, and place on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Lightly press down each cookie.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes until edges are set but centers remain soft and gooey.
- Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack. Serve warm, optionally with ice cream or caramel.
Notes
- Use high-quality chocolate chips or chopped chocolate for richer flavor.
- Do not overbake – centers should remain gooey for the perfect lava effect.
- Cool slightly before serving to prevent melting.
