- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 small onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 can cream of mushroom soup (or cream of your choice)
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 (32 oz) package of frozen tater tots
- Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- In a large skillet, heat a little oil over medium heat. Add diced onion and cook until translucent. Add minced garlic and cook for another minute. Incorporate the ground beef, season with salt and pepper, and cook until browned. Drain excess fat and set aside.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the cream of mushroom soup, sour cream, Worcestershire sauce, and Dijon mustard. Stir until smooth. Adjust seasoning as needed.
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). In a large casserole dish, spread the cooked ground beef evenly. Pour the creamy sauce over the beef, spreading it out. Top with shredded cheddar cheese and then layer the frozen tater tots evenly over the top.
- Bake uncovered for about 40-45 minutes or until the tater tots are crispy and golden brown. For extra crispiness, broil for an additional 2-3 minutes. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired.

- Allow the casserole to cool slightly before serving for easier slicing.
- For a spicier version, add a dash of hot sauce or diced jalapeños into the meat mixture.
