Ingredients
Scale
- 1 gallon of fresh apple cider
- 2-3 cinnamon sticks
- 1 teaspoon whole cloves
- 1 teaspoon star anise (optional for added flair)
- 1/2 cup brown sugar or honey
- 1/2 teaspoon grated nutmeg
- Fresh apple slices for garnish
- Orange slices (optional for a citrus twist)
Instructions
- Gather all ingredients and ensure your apple cider is ready. For a festive touch, consider adding a splash of homemade applesauce into the mix.
- Pour the apple cider into a large pot or slow cooker. Add cinnamon sticks, cloves, star anise, nutmeg, and brown sugar. Stir gently to blend the flavors.
- Heat the mixture over medium heat until it begins to simmer. Reduce heat to low and let it simmer uncovered for at least 30 minutes to infuse the spices and aroma.
- Remove the spice sticks and pour the warm cider into mugs. Garnish with apple slices, orange slices, or a cinnamon stick. For a spooky touch, add floating butterbeer cookies or a splash of colored syrup.
Notes
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat gently before serving.
- You can freeze the cider in portions for later enjoyment. Thaw slowly in the fridge and reheat on the stove or microwave.
- For a fun Halloween presentation, add edible glitter or sprinkles to enhance the spooky aesthetic.
