Ingredients
Scale
- 1 ½ pounds ground beef (or a mix of beef and pork)
- 1 cup breadcrumbs (preferably for better crispness)
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 large egg
- ½ cup milk
- 2 tbsp tomato paste
- 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp dried thyme
- 1 tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
- Optional: 1 cup shredded cheese for added richness
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, onion, garlic, egg, milk, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, thyme, salt, and pepper. Mix thoroughly until all ingredients are well incorporated. Stir in shredded cheese if desired.
- Transfer the mixture into a greased loaf pan or shape into a loaf on a baking sheet. Bake for 50-60 minutes, until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (70°C). Let it rest for 10 minutes before slicing.
- While baking, prepare the glaze by mixing ¼ cup ketchup, 1 tbsp brown sugar, and Worcestershire sauce. Brush the glaze over the top of the meatloaf during the last 10 minutes of baking for a glossy, flavorful crust.
Notes
- Use lean ground beef or mix with pork for extra flavor.
- For added moisture, include grated zucchini or carrots in the mixture.
- Ensure not to overbake to prevent dryness.
- Let the meatloaf rest for 10 minutes before slicing for clean cuts.
