Ingredients
Scale
- 4 cups of rice cereal or Chex mix
- 1 cup pretzels or popcorn for crunch
- 1 cup caramel bits or melted caramel candies
- 1 cup mini chocolate chips
- 1 cup chopped nuts (optional)
- 1/2 cup pumpkin seeds or roasted sunflower seeds
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Sprinkles or themed decorations (optional for Halloween)
Instructions
- In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in the caramel bits or melted caramel candies until smooth. Add the vanilla extract, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Continue stirring until well combined and heated through.
- In a large bowl, combine the rice cereal, pretzels or popcorn, chopped nuts (if using), and pumpkin seeds. Mix gently to evenly distribute the ingredients.
- Pour the warm caramel sauce over the crunchy mixture. Toss gently with a spatula until everything is coated evenly. Add mini chocolate chips and mix lightly to avoid melting the chocolate.
- Spread the mixture onto a parchment-lined baking sheet or large bowl. Allow it to cool and set for about 30 minutes. If desired, sprinkle themed decorations or sprinkles over the top for a festive look.
- Store the Harvest Crunch Snack Mix in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week. For longer storage, keep it in the fridge to maintain freshness.
Notes
- Feel free to switch out chocolate chips for white chocolate or butterscotch for different flavors.
- Add mini marshmallows or candy corn for extra sweetness and color.
- Use gluten-free cereal options to accommodate dietary restrictions.
- Create themed decorations like candy eyes or mini fondant pumpkins for Halloween fun.
