Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Slice potatoes thinly and chop the onion and garlic finely. Season the beef with salt, pepper, and herbs if desired.
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. sauté onions and garlic until translucent. Add ground beef and cook until browned. Season with additional salt, pepper, and herbs. Add a splash of soy or Worcestershire sauce if desired.
- In a baking dish, layer sliced potatoes, then a layer of cooked beef mixture. Sprinkle with shredded cheese. Repeat layers, finishing with potatoes and cheese on top. Pour beef broth over the layers.
- Cover with foil and bake for 45-50 minutes until potatoes are tender. Remove foil for the last 10 minutes to crisp the cheese on top. Rest for a few minutes before serving.
