Ingredients
Scale
- 2 lbs ground beef (preferably 80/20)
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 cup ketchup
- 2 large eggs
- 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 tsp dried thyme or Italian seasoning
- Optional: 1/2 cup shredded cheese for extra meltiness
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, milk, chopped onion, minced garlic, eggs, Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, and herbs. Mix thoroughly until well combined.
- Shape the mixture into a loaf shape and place it in a greased baking dish or on a parchment-lined sheet. Spread ketchup evenly over the top.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 60-75 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (70°C). Let it rest for 10 minutes before slicing.
Notes
- Use a loaf pan or shape by hand for a rustic look.
- Add shredded cheese inside the meat mixture for extra creaminess.
- For a healthier version, substitute some ground beef with ground turkey or chicken.
- Top with crispy bacon strips for added flavor.
