- 1 lb ground beef
- 8 oz fresh mushrooms, sliced
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup Swiss cheese, shredded
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- 2 large eggs
- 1/4 cup milk
- 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh parsley, chopped (optional garnish)
Instructions
- Sauté sliced mushrooms, chopped onions, and minced garlic in a skillet with a little oil until golden and fragrant. Set aside to cool slightly.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, eggs, milk, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Add the cooled mushroom mixture and shredded Swiss cheese. Mix thoroughly until well combined.
- Transfer the mixture into a greased loaf pan or shape into a loaf on a baking sheet. Bake at 375°F (190°C) for about 50-60 minutes, until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).
- Allow the meatloaf to rest for 10 minutes before slicing. Garnish with chopped parsley if desired and serve with your favorite sides.
Notes
- You can substitute ground turkey or chicken for a leaner version.
- Feel free to add sautéed greens or vegetables into the mixture for extra nutrients.
- For a gluten-free option, replace breadcrumbs with almond flour or gluten-free breadcrumbs.
