Experience the ease and flavors of One-Pan Steak Pizzaiola, a delightful Italian dish that combines tender steak with a rich tomato sauce. Perfect for busy weeknights or relaxed weekends, this quick recipe offers minimal cleanup and maximum taste.

  • Total Time: 40 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1.5 lbs steak (such as sirloin or ribeye), cut into 1-inch thick slices
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 large onion, sliced
  • 2 bell peppers (any color), sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 (28 oz) can crushed tomatoes
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh basil leaves, for garnish
  • Grated Parmesan cheese, for serving (optional)

Instructions

  1. Season the steak slices with salt and pepper. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Sear the steak for 2-3 minutes per side, until browned. Remove the steak from the skillet and set aside.
  2. In the same skillet, add the sliced onions and bell peppers. SautΓ© for 5-7 minutes, until softened. Add the minced garlic and cook for another minute, until fragrant.
  3. Pour in the crushed tomatoes, dried oregano, and red pepper flakes (if using). Season with salt and pepper to taste. Bring the sauce to a simmer.
  4. Return the seared steak to the skillet, nestling the slices into the tomato sauce. Reduce the heat to low, cover the skillet, and simmer for 15-20 minutes, or until the steak is cooked to your desired doneness and the sauce has thickened slightly.

Notes

  • Choose tender cuts like sirloin or ribeye for the best results.
  • Don’t overcook the steak; sear quickly and simmer until just done.
  • Adjust seasoning in the sauce as needed; a pinch of sugar can reduce acidity.
  • Add other veggies, such as mushrooms or zucchini, for extra flavor.
  • Increase red pepper flakes for added spice.
