Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound ground beef (or ground turkey for a healthier twist)
- ½ cup bread crumbs or crushed crackers
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1 egg
- ¼ cup milk
- 2 tablespoons ketchup, plus extra for topping
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce (optional)
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). In a large bowl, combine the ground meat, bread crumbs, chopped onion, garlic, egg, milk, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Mix thoroughly until all ingredients are evenly incorporated.
- Transfer the mixture to a loaf pan or shape it into a loaf on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. For a more uniform shape, use a standard loaf pan.
- Bake in the preheated oven for about 45 minutes, or until cooked through and the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C). During the last 10 minutes, spread extra ketchup on top for a flavorful glaze.
- Let the meatloaf rest for 10 minutes before slicing. This allows the juices to redistribute, ensuring tender slices.
Notes
- Use lean ground turkey or chicken as healthier alternatives.
- Add herbs like parsley, thyme, or chopped bell peppers for extra flavor.
- For a spicier kick, incorporate hot sauce or diced jalapeños into the mixture.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
