  • Total Time: 50-55 minutes
  • Yield: 12 bars

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups peeled, sliced apples (about 3 medium apples)
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup salted butter
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • Fresh apple slices for topping (optional)

Instructions

  1. Peel and thinly slice the apples. Cook in a skillet with a tablespoon of sugar and a dash of cinnamon until tender, about 5-7 minutes. Cool slightly.
  2. In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the remaining sugar and stir until bubbling and golden. Carefully add the heavy cream while stirring. Mix in sea salt and cook for another minute. Remove from heat and cool.
  3. In a bowl, combine flour, oats, brown sugar, cinnamon, baking powder, and baking soda. Cut in cold butter until crumbly. Press half of the mixture into a greased 9×13-inch baking dish to form the crust.
  4. Spread the cooked apple filling evenly over the crust. Drizzle salted caramel sauce over the apples. Sprinkle remaining crumb mixture on top and press lightly.
  5. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake for 30-35 minutes until golden and bubbling. Cool before slicing. Optional: top with fresh apple slices.
