Ingredients
Scale
- 1.5 lbs ground beef
- 2 large onions, diced
- 4–5 medium potatoes, thinly sliced
- 2 cans (10.75 oz each) condensed cream of mushroom soup
- 1 cup beef broth
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Optional: shredded cheddar cheese for topping
Instructions
- Brown the ground beef in a large skillet over medium-high heat and add diced onions until softened. Drain excess grease and season with salt and pepper.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the cooked beef and onions with cream of mushroom soup and beef broth, mixing well.
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Layer half of the sliced potatoes in a greased 9×13-inch baking dish, then add half of the beef mixture. Repeat the layers.
- Cover with foil and bake for 1 hour. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 20-30 minutes until the potatoes are tender and the top is golden brown.
Notes
- Thinly slice the potatoes for even cooking.
- Drain the grease from the beef to prevent heaviness.
- Add cheese between layers for extra flavor.
- Let the casserole rest for 10-15 minutes before serving.
