Ingredients
Scale
- 6 large fresh apples (preferably Fuji or Honeycrisp)
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup light corn syrup
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- White food coloring (gel preferred for vivid whiteness)
- Edible glitter or shimmer dust (for that sparkling effect)
- Cooking spray or parchment paper for the baking sheet
Instructions
- Wash and dry the apples thoroughly. Remove the stems and insert skewers into the core of each apple. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and lightly spray with cooking spray.
- In a heavy-bottomed saucepan, combine sugar, corn syrup, water, and cream of tartar. Cook over medium-high heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture reaches 300°F (hard crack stage) on a candy thermometer. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract and white food coloring.
- Dip each apple carefully into the hot candy mixture, swirling to coat evenly. Lift and let excess drip off. Immediately sprinkle with edible shimmer dust or glitter for a sparkling finish.
- Place coated apples on the prepared baking sheet and let harden and cool completely before serving.
Notes
- Ensure apples are completely dry for proper coating adhesion.
- Work quickly once the candy reaches the hard crack stage to prevent crystallization.
- Use vibrant white gel food coloring for best visual impact.
- Apply edible glitter while the coating is still warm for better adherence.
