Ingredients
Scale
- 1 box of your favorite cake mix or homemade cake batter
- 1 cup buttercream frosting (pink or red tinted)
- Chocolate melting wafers or white chocolate chips
- Red food coloring or gel
- Black and red edible food gel or icing (for splatters)
- Spray-on non-stick cooking spray or vegetable oil
- Cups of wooden or silicone cake pop sticks
- Optional: edible glitter for added creepy shimmer
Instructions
- Prepare the Cake Base: Bake your preferred cake, cool completely, then crumble into a bowl and mix in buttercream frosting until dough-like.
- Shape the Cakesicles: Roll mixture into 1-inch balls, insert sticks, and chill in the freezer for 30 minutes.
- Melt and Coat: Melt chocolate wafers or white chocolate, dip each cake ball, and let set on parchment paper.
- Add the Blood Splatter Effect: Use red food gel and a small brush or toothpick to flick blood-like splatters on the cakesicles. Optional black drips add extra spookiness.
Notes
- Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 2-3 days to maintain freshness.
- Place wax paper between cakesicles to prevent sticking during storage.
- Add edible glitter for a shimmering, creepy effect.
