Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 lb ground pork
- 1 cup Italian-seasoned bread crumbs
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 cup chopped fresh basil
- 1/2 cup chopped fresh parsley
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 jar marinara sauce
- Olive oil for greasing
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375ยฐF (190ยฐC). In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, ground pork, bread crumbs, Parmesan, eggs, chopped basil, parsley, minced garlic, salt, and pepper. Mix until well incorporated.
- Shape half of the meat mixture into a rectangle on a greased baking sheet or loaf pan. Evenly spread shredded mozzarella over the center of the meat. Top with the remaining meat mixture, sealing the edges to enclose the cheese.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 50-60 minutes or until cooked through. During the last 10 minutes, spoon marinara sauce over the top to add flavor and a rich crust.
