Ingredients
Scale
- 1 sheet of puff pastry, thawed
- 1 large apple, thinly sliced (Granny Smith or Fuji work well)
- 200g Brie cheese, sliced or cubed
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
- 1 tablespoon honey (optional, for extra sweetness)
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon (optional, for added flavor)
- Fresh thyme or rosemary (optional garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly flour your work surface and roll out the puff pastry sheet to smooth any creases. Cut the pastry into 12 equal squares. Place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Take each puff pastry square and gently press the center to make a small indentation. Brush the edges with the beaten egg, then layer a slice of apple on top of each square. Add a piece of Brie cheese over the apple slices. Repeat for all bites.
- Drizzle honey over the assembled bites if desired, and sprinkle with cinnamon. Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes or until the pastry is golden and puffy. Remove from oven and let cool slightly before serving. Garnish with thyme or rosemary if using.
Notes
- Use firm apples to prevent them from turning mushy during baking.
- Cool slightly before serving to allow cheese to set and bites to hold their shape.
- Try different cheeses like Gouda or Camembert for varied flavors.
- For a gluten-free option, swap puff pastry with a vegetable-based alternative.
