Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1/2 cup bread crumbs
- 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 large egg
- 1/4 cup ketchup
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- 8-10 slices of bacon
- For the glaze:
- 1/4 cup honey
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine ground beef, bread crumbs, chopped onion, minced garlic, egg, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and black pepper. Mix thoroughly until well combined.
- Shape the mixture into a loaf shape on a parchment-lined baking sheet or place in a loaf pan.
- Lay bacon slices over the top and sides of the meatloaf, slightly overlapping for full coverage.
- Mix honey, soy sauce, and Dijon mustard in a small bowl to prepare the glaze. Brush generously over the bacon-wrapped meatloaf, saving some for later.
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake for 50-60 minutes, until internal temperature reaches 160°F (70°C). Brush more glaze about 10 minutes before finishing.
- Optionally, broil for 3-5 minutes to crisp up the bacon, watching carefully to prevent burning.
Notes
- Ensure bacon overlaps slightly for even coverage and crispy texture.
- For a leaner version, substitute ground turkey or chicken, cooking to an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).
- Use high-quality honey and bacon for the best flavor.
- Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days or frozen for up to 3 months.
